Why us

Why choose

Coolers & Condensers

Heat exchange is never one-size-fits-all. For four decades we’ve designed, circuited and built every unit around the room, the duty and the refrigerant in front of it.

Heat exchange is never one-size-fits-all. For four decades we’ve designed, circuited and built every unit around the room, the duty and the refrigerant in front of it.

Designed around your conditions

Every unit is circuited for your duty, room and refrigerant — never picked from a catalogue.

British-built since 1984

Designed, manufactured and assembled in Fareham, with sheet metalwork and powder coating in-house.

Every refrigerant, every duty

Freon, ammonia, glycol and CO₂ — gas coolers to 120 BarG and single units up to 1200kW.

Quiet, efficient, built to last

Generous surface areas, EC fans and our own Q-Floe silencers — as low as 25 dB(A) at 1m.

Our story

Four decades

In the making

Milestones from forty years of designing and building heat exchangers in Hampshire.

  1. 1984
Inside the original Segensworth East factory in the 1980s

    Where it all started

A newly built factory on the Segensworth East industrial estate, set up by four directors who already had a wealth of knowledge and standing in the refrigeration industry.

  2. 2011
    The Coolers & Condensers factory

    A new chapter

After 27 years building a sterling reputation in industrial refrigeration, the company was sold to David Gillet, fresh from 36 years at a large UK heat exchanger manufacturer.

  3. 2013
    Ripley Engineering

    Ripley Engineering joins us

We went to look at Ripley Engineering's machinery and were so impressed we bought the company. Their sheet metal expertise lifted our product further, and all our sheet metal work moved to Ripley.

  4. 2015
The second factory across the road

    A second factory

As the business grew we needed more room to build. When the factory across the road became available, we took it on for final assembly and unit storage.

  5. 2016
    The main factory extension

    Extending the main factory

An extension into the unused space at the back of our main factory made room for new machinery and sped up our existing processes.

  6. 2018
    The bespoke CO₂ test chamber

    A bespoke CO₂ test chamber

With supermarkets turning to CO₂, more work came our way. CO₂ heat exchangers need very high-pressure tests, so we built a test chamber to carry them out safely and efficiently.

  7. 2026
    A new factory in Portsmouth

    A new factory in Portsmouth

A purpose-built 84,000ft² factory for our latest commercial unit coolers and gas coolers, with high-pressure testing and new fin and copper tube machinery. Fareham continues to build industrial and custom products.

How we work

How we

build it right

From the first selection sheet to the final pressure test, every unit follows the same four steps — which is why so many are still running decades later.

01

Conditions first

We start from the duty, the room, the refrigerant and the constraints — not from a catalogue selection sheet.

02

Designed & circuited

Each coil is circuited for your conditions, with generous surface area so it defrosts less and runs cheaper.

03

Built in Hampshire

Manufactured and assembled in Fareham, with sheet metalwork and powder coating in-house via Ripley Engineering.

04

Tested & supported

Witnessed performance and noise testing where required, with spares and documentation behind every unit.

Made in Britain

Every unit is designed, circuited, manufactured and tested in Fareham — with sheet metalwork and powder coating in-house through our sister company, Ripley Engineering.

40+

Years of heat exchange design across industrial, commercial and process cooling.

1200kW

Single-unit performance across our condensers and dry air coolers.

130 BarG

CO₂ gas coolers, pressure tested in our own CO₂ test chamber.
